Tonight I am very thankful for music. I really LOVE good music. My music tastes vary widely. I love modern, alternative, some rock n roll, new age, and classical. There are probably many other genres there that I haven't hit on. But you get the picture. Pretty much anything other than top 40, rap, and country (not a big fan of those).
Tonight though. I am grateful, for classical and new age music. After a LONG, BUSY day, I love to sit back and just relax listening to David Lanz, or Andrea Bocelli, or even some Mozart. I love to sit and listen and relax. I think that it is really true that some music can confuse your mind while other music can help you consentrate, and even in some cases make you smarter.
I was willing to try the later in the development of my children. I heard once that if you play Mozart to your babies, it will help them to be smart. So I did. I put a CD player in their rooms, and every night for years and years they listened to mozart, and David Lanz, and Paul Speers, Danny Wright etc. I played music to them well into the night. Long after they were asleep.
As for smarter... I guess that could be argued. I think my children are fairly bright, but they are no Einsteins. But...they have a wonderful appreciation for music. They sing constantly (yes, boys sing) as long as they don't know you're watching them. They love to sit at the piano and play their favorite songs. That usually doesn't equate to what they are supposed to be practicing for their lessons, but they play quite a bit. Right now, I am treated to christmas music quite often. I love it.
Anyway, after that long rambling... I am thankful for music.
Rant!
