Alex's Conference Choir

This weekend, Alex has been given a once in a lifetime experience. He had the opportunity to participate in the Young Men's Choir that is singing at the Priesthood Session of General Conference.

First, I cannot believe that he is actually old enough to participate in something like this. I cannot believe that he is actually twelve years old and that he holds the Aaronic Priesthood. It is a milestone that I looked forward to for years, and it is actually here. My little boys are growing up. He has been so excited to participate in this choir. But I think when he first signed up, he didn't really understand what he was signing up for. I think he just wanted to sing in any choir that was offered to him. He really likes to sing and hasn't really had the opportunity much.

I think when it finally hit him that he would be singing in front of 21,000 men in the conference center, and that this conference was going to be broadcast world wide. I think he began to get nervous.

In this picture, he is on the front row, 5th one from the conductor on the left. This was taken during their dress rehersal on Wednesday night. They did end up moving him over three spaces, so he will actually be 2 seats to the left from the conductor.

I know that we live in Salt Lake City, but being given this opportunity, doesn't happen that often. I myself have never had this opportunity. Neither has Steve. I hope in this whole experience, he remembers it well, and really cherrishes it. He will likely never get to do it again. What an amazing opportunity he has been given. I hope that he sings his heart out and...that he doesn't pass out from nerves (that would really be embarrassing, but I guess it would make it an experience that he really wouldn't forget! :-) ).

I hope it went great tonight! So conveinent that you gave him the red hair- it makes him so much easier to spot!

I hope I get a chance to see him in a rebroadcast of some sort. Go Alex!

Steve found it on the internet so we watched just the songs. There are a few times that you can see him. He loved it.
