Onward and Upward

Well, it looks like the summer has come to an end.

I can't believe it...where did it go? It really seems to me like the kids just barely got out of school. I'm not ready for it to end. I know that is probably the first and last time you will ever hear that come out of my mouth (or off my blog). This summer didn't really happen like I had planned. I had great intentions, and yet now it is over, and we really did very little.

The boys have been troopers about it though. They've seldom complained and in many cases have stepped up and taken care of things in the house, so that I could actually go get something done.
What amazing kids they can be...

I did start off the summer well. I got the kids right into swimming lessons, so that I could make sure that it happened. Luckily for me I did that early, because I think had I waited, they wouldn't have done it at all.
After their swimming lessons were complete, I promised them that we would try to go swimming at least once a week so that they would be able to keep up their skills. But, I think we were lucky if they ended up at a pool twice a month. oops!

We did have a great trip to St. George, and a Fabulous one to Lake Powell, but otherwise, we were lucky that the neighbors invited us to the splash park a couple of times, to the lavender farm, and to the sweets candy factory tour. I guess we can check a couple of things off our list.

Now school starts again tomorrow. It's time for me to try to get the house back into shape, and get a schedule back. Every year I try to make small improvements to how our house functions. Every year, the boys are a little older and can do a few more things. I'm glad, it does make things a little bit easier.

But, once again, it's onward and upward. Trying to make these improvements and make the promise, I'll do better tomorrow, I promise. (or in this case, next summer).

Where did the summer go? Usually I am ready for school to start and you can see me skipping to my car after dropping them off the first day. I am ready for some things, bedtime, a few hours of no fighting, naps (I have big hopes for this one) and hopefully a cleaner house.

I'm also feeling a little guilty that we didn't do more this summer. Bad weather, Swine Flu and other things seemed to reduce the number off days available for fun.

Sigh. We didn't even vacation as a family one single day. We're going out of town this coming weekend but just for a quick break.

Relax. The boys just wanted to run around and play together anyway and we both know they got many hours of wild boy time in!
