So today is the first day of summer! Yay, right? Well, maybe not so much.
I started off the day, forgetting that I told a friend to come by my house at 9am so that my boys could watch her two kids, and we could go to the gym (the doorbell woke me up). But...I quickly changed and got about half an hour in at the gym before heading back home to get the kids to swimming lessons (ya, I know. It's the first day of summer vacation, and I actually remembered to get my kids into lessons. That NEVER happens).
On the way home, I asked the boys to all strip their beds of sheets and blankets so that I could wash them, and the next thing I know..... Most of the furniture from their room was out in the hallway, and we were scrubbing walls. Well, for anyone who has actually seen the walls of my boys bedrooms. They know that merely scrubbing them isn't going to help much. So, I pulled out the joint compound and started patching dings, and soon we were full on painting. Luckily, I've kept the left over 5 gallon bucket of paint from building the house, so it is really just touching up. I don't have to be terribly cautious because it all just blends into the existing paint, and there was no ceiling painting. But still..... By three o'clock we just about had the whole thing painted, vacuumed (even edged) and all of the furniture put back in (albeit totally rearranged). The room looks sooooo much better. Like they just moved in. However, this was not really in the plans for today. I did infact expect them to clean today, starting the summer chore ritual. But that isn't really what happened. Though their room looks fabulous, the rest of the house really looks like a bomb went off. Good thing there is tomorrow.
The worst part about today, is that I missed yet again another eye Dr. appointment. I got a new trial pair of contact lenses about 3 weeks ago, but before he will give me the actual prescription to get more, he has to re examine my eyes with them in. It was supposed to be a week later, but so far I've missed 3 appointments. I can't believe it!!!!!! What am I going to do? I am so embarrassed that I don't want to even call and try to get another appointment, but if I don't I'll never get any more lenses. YUCK!!!!!
But the boys room looks FAB!
Rant!
